Workshop Description
If you have ever wondered about how the classrooms of the future will look like attend this session by NASSP's National Award Winning Digital Principal Mike King. Mike and Christen Engelking will take you into the world of the next generation of teaching and learning which Mike calls Classrooms With Out Walls. Learn the essential techniques of generating digital content using methods of facilitate, aggregate, curate, and create through project based learning in primordial spaces within the connected learning process. In this workshop you will learn about the new collaboration roles of the curator, and designer, as information is synthesized from, standards, assessment, content, method, and process into newly developed content generated for mobile learning. The end product of these practices will be the creation of content for the connected classroom." This session is a BYOD with some knowledge of iAuthor, aggregation and curation tools like, twitter, Delicious, Diggo, scoopit, Paper.li and Twitted Times which are all necessary components for your learning. Warm-up Activity; "Defining Digital Media Literacy"
Directions: The workshop website provides links to numbered rooms. Today when you entered the workshop you were given a card. The card has a number that has been assigned to you. Look at the card and click on the room number you have been assigned for this warm up activity. The directions for the activity have been provided for each member as you enter the collaborative Sync.in workspace. Once you have entered the room add your name in the top right and read the instructions for this activity. In a few minutes you will be viewing a Podcast on You Digital Media Literacy. Please raise your hand when you are ready to begin this activity. (The facilitator is to check that all participants have entered a collaborative workspace and that one minute is provided for reading directions.) Activity One: Accessing Digital ContentWorkshop Directions: To participate in this activity you will need to enter the Google Forms Workspace. Once you enter the workspace you will see a Google search engine at the top left hand corner of the page. Below the search engine is a Google docs form. You will be using both the searchengine and the Google forms during this activity. Use the search engine to search terms. You will need to submit your answers after all questions have been prompted.
