ibook author
The Apps in Education Blog provides a plethora sites that are now offering Tutorials and how-to guides for creating ebooks in iBook Author. As teachers become acquainted with the idea of creating their own digital content these types of resources will become valuable commodities' among media creators. For example iBooks has been in the past limited in providing software protocol that would support an ePub formats due to lack of flexibility in the formatting of objects within the text. Anyone could produce these documents and store them in their ibook library but the books themselves were not fluid or interactive.
Pages did provide some flexibility in authoring multimedia embeds but were both cumbersome and lacked the fluid responses when selecting objects. The Apple announcement about iBooks Author -the new app for Mac will now allow educators to create and distribute multimedia interactive books for their students. The wide range of flexibility of ePub over PDF documents allows students to engage in directed reading activities with multiple options. |

the epub generATION
Today a new kind of Alexandrian library is being formed, similar and not very different from the one created by Aristotle's student Demetrius of Phalerum, over 2,300 years ago. This is the library of the future, a library that will be created by the ePub generation and cataloged by the tools generated beyond Web 3.0 social applications. The semantic Web, built on syntax rules that merge schemas together through Resource Description Framework strands that are supplied by the ePub generation.
This is the near future. A future generation of social publishers who will have their content merged, remixed into a new conceptual awareness. This is the conceptual age, an age where the New Alexandrians will create, publish and formulate new meanings and understandings of the worlds in which they live, virtually or semantically.
